Innogrid (www.innogrid.com) announced that it is building an IoT cloud platform with IoT specialist Daliworks (www.daliworks.net), combining its Korean-made cloud solution (Cloudit) with the IoT service (Thingplus) so that IoT services can be used easily and quickly anytime, anywhere. Since the recent enforcement of Korea’s Cloud Computing Act, companies have shown strong interest in adopting IaaS cloud, the foundational layer of the entire ICT industry, and IoT demand has been growing as well, so Innogrid and Daliworks have been preparing a homegrown IoT cloud solution that combines the two. Enterprise customers adopting IoT will be able to solve everything at once with a single ‘IoT cloud solution,’ without having to worry about a separate cloud deployment.

Daliworks (CEO Soonho Lee), an Internet of Things platform company, announced on the 15th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Seoul Metropolitan Government for an Internet of Things (IoT) city development project. Under the MOU, the City of Seoul and Daliworks agreed to jointly build IoT services and infrastructure, creating an IoT environment open to a wide range of startups and sustaining cooperation between the city and businesses. To this end, Seoul also signed agreements with SK Planet, Security Platform, Nextpage, Ntogether, Toysmyth, and Hana Micron.

A Korean venture company providing an Internet of Things (IoT) platform is entering Spain. It is rare for a small company to break into overseas markets in IoT, a field drawing attention as the next-generation communications market. Daliworks (CEO Soonho Lee) announced on the 24th that it has been selected as a cloud service partner of ‘Libelium,’ a premium Spanish IoT equipment maker. When data generated by Libelium IoT devices is collected at a gateway device, it is delivered to customer terminals via the cloud. Libelium’s cloud service partners include global companies such as Microsoft and Telefonica. Daliworks is the first from Asia.

At the exhibition, Daliworks introduced key use cases of the Thingplus platform. Hardware partner Neuromeka also joined the exhibition, demonstrating real-time monitoring and control with devices integrated with Thingplus.

Under the agreement, the two companies plan to introduce personalized smart healthcare services optimized for each individual. Personal activity data and environmental data provided through Daliworks’ Thingplus (Thing+) platform will be linked with the Lifesemantics platform to control the various physical environments that affect personal health. The plan is to maintain the environment best suited to each user’s health. “The business alliance with Lifesemantics shows that the Thingplus platform can also be applied to healthcare,” said Soonho Lee, CEO of Daliworks. “By combining the two companies’ technologies, we will deliver a wide range of convergence healthcare services, such as providing hospital room environments optimized for each patient, managing sleep environments for individuals, and maintaining care environments for infants and toddlers.”

Thingplus collects data from a wide range of IoT sensors and stores it in the cloud. With simple rule settings, users can control systems and analyze sensor data, and the information is displayed on laptops, smartphones, tablets, and other IT devices. When Thingplus is applied to a production plant, operators can grasp a wide range of information at a glance, including temperature and humidity, air pollution levels, the status of equipment in each process, and energy usage. A key advantage is cost savings, as no separate system build-out is required. Professor Jae-Hoon Kim of Ajou University’s Department of Industrial Engineering explained, “In a factory environment, IoT technology can be easily applied to check process conditions such as energy consumption and machine noise in real time. This is a great help in responding quickly when anomalies occur and in finding ways to improve process efficiency.”

Daliworks obtained the certification with ‘Thingplus’, its IoT cloud platform. Daliworks is the first company in Korea to earn this status with an IoT platform. Daliworks delivers Thingplus through AWS. By storing IoT device data in the AWS cloud, the company can now offer Thingplus anywhere in the world at a low cost. Rapid service deployment is another advantage.

Under the MOU, Daliworks will provide ‘Thingplus’ (Thing+), its IoT cloud platform for building Internet of Things services, while n.thing will develop new hardware for smart farm services. The two companies plan to cooperate in delivering Thingplus-based smart farm services. Both companies share the view that the most important part of the smart farm business starts with accurately understanding the growing environment. To achieve this, they agreed on the need to connect a wide variety of sensor devices to an IoT cloud platform. The many sensors installed in a smart farm environment are managed in real time on the Thingplus cloud platform, and big data analysis of growth-related data makes it possible to create a growing environment optimized for each individual crop.

SK Telecom announced on the 10th that it has launched ‘ThingPlug’, an integrated platform that helps anyone easily develop IoT (Internet of Things) services and apply them to everyday life.
ThingPlug is built on international IoT standards, making it easy to connect with devices and applications. It is available through a dedicated web portal (https://sandbox.sktiot.com) and offers a ‘service platform’ for companies and developers, along with a ‘DIY development environment’ where users can build the IoT services they want. Based on the SDK (Software Development Kit), developers can purchase motherboards, sensors, and other components to build their own IoT devices and services. Once development is complete, they can register them on the web portal and use them immediately. ThingPlug also provides a cloud-based development service environment, eliminating the cost of building separate servers.
