October 2022 – Daliworks Workshop #Daebudo Edition
Hello, this is Daliworks.
With less than three months left in 2022, Daliworks went on a workshop retreat to look back over the business so far, take stock, and plan for the road ahead. The idea had come up at every team dinner, and we finally got to make it happen! Outdoor mask requirements were lifted as of September 26, so we could feel the cool autumn breeze on our skin—it was wonderful!
Shall we take a peek at the Daliworks workshop Daebudo edition?
Destination: Daebudo
We gathered at Sadang Station by 9:30 in the morning and set off for Daebudo Island. The weather was perfectly clear, and the sky was crisp and blue, just as autumn should be.
See the West Sea off in the distance? The tidal flats and the sky seemed to stretch into each other without a boundary.
First Meal: Handmade Burgers
For our first meal on Daebudo, we went with handmade burgers??
Everyone picked a burger to their own taste. Eating together at a table overlooking the West Sea made it taste even better.
To Our Lodgings—Gogo!
We arrived at the place we would stay for the day. Our workshop PD searched high and low to find it—a European-style pension complex on grounds of about 40,000 pyeong.
It had sports facilities including a futsal pitch, a jokgu court, and a basketball court, plus a seminar room, making it a great spot for group gatherings. There were also plenty of caravan trailers ready for families visiting together.
The complex was landscaped with themes from different European countries, and the Daliworks lodge was ‘Amsterdam’ in the Netherlands block. It was a standalone duplex pension with one basement level and two floors above ground, complete with a billiard table and a playroom.
We even squeezed in a game of pocket billiards between sessions. Since we were all beginners, it was all the more suspenseful and fun?

This workshop ran in three sessions.

For our first meal on Daebudo, we went with handmade burgers??
Daliworks started out in 2013 and has competed fiercely to become Korea’s leading IoT platform company in both name and substance. We looked back on the past 10 years and thought together about how to take on the 10 years ahead.
Everyone had so much to say that Session II still was not finished even after our seminar room booking ran out. We decided to hold Session III—sharing each member’s personal vision and core values—after dinner, over drinks.
Barbecue Time
The highlight of any workshop? Barbecue, no question???
Maybe it was because we prepared it all together, but it tasted even better. Not pictured: raw shrimp, fried rice, and all kinds of sponsored side dishes! It was truly a feast.
After eating our fill, we talked late into the night about everything we had not gotten to. Sharing each person’s vision and core values and getting to know one another better made it especially meaningful. With drinks alongside, the conversation grew even more heartfelt that night?
The next morning, before leaving the pension, we took a group photo with ‘the Netherlands’ as our backdrop.
Walking the Daebu Haesol Trail Together
The main event of day two: hiking. We walked Course 6 of the Daebu Haesol Trail together. Our CEO led from the front without a single break, and keeping up was hard work?
Walking Course 6 of the Daebu Haesol Trail brings you to the Gubongdo Sunset Observatory. Once again, the sea and the sky seemed to blend into one.
The route back offers a view of the tidal flats. You can even try a mudflat experience there. The sun was blazing, but gazing up at the sky as we walked, we were back in no time.
You Can’t Visit Daebudo Without Eating Kalguksu
The finale: our recovery course. It turns out about 90% of the restaurants on Daebudo are kalguksu (knife-cut noodle) places. We picked one that came highly recommended.
We had kalguksu that looked spectacular before we even tasted it, and a seafood scallion pancake as crispy as any fried dish. It was the perfect pick-me-up. The satisfied sighs just kept coming?
