The DX Win-Win Lounge

Event Overview
Date and time: September 23 (Fri), 2022, 09:30-12:00
Venue: Startup Branch, 2F, COEX
Participants: Mid-sized companies pursuing (or planning) DX, startups with digital technology, investors (VCs, accelerators, etc.), and related organizations
The Mid-Sized Company-Startup DX Win-Win Lounge is a private sector-led platform for mutual growth that combines the capabilities and experience of mid-sized companies with the technologies and ideas of innovative digital transformation startups to secure new growth engines for mid-sized companies. Launched in 2020 and now in its third year, the event is designed to promote cooperation and shared growth between startups with innovative ideas and technologies and mid-sized companies pursuing digital transformation (DX). True to its name, the DX Win-Win Lounge brings together the domain knowledge and infrastructure of mid-sized companies, the digital innovation technologies of startups, and the financing of investors to prime the pump for innovation and new business creation at Korea’s mid-sized companies.
This third edition of the lounge was held under the theme of the machinery and manufacturing industries, with eight startups in related fields presenting new business items they could pursue with mid-sized companies and discussing ways to collaborate. The event wrapped up successfully with some 150 participants, including mid-sized companies, large and small enterprises, investors, startups, and related organizations.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy plans to support technology validation costs and strengthen follow-up support for participants’ overseas expansion, so that the innovative ideas and technologies discovered at the lounge can lead to new businesses through collaboration between mid-sized companies and startups.
DX Issues Presented by Mid-Sized Companies
Manufacturing accounts for nearly 27.5% of Korea’s GDP — far higher than in the United States (10.9%) or Germany (19.1%) — making Korea a country where manufacturing carries enormous weight. It is no exaggeration to say that the digital transformation of machinery and manufacturing companies, and the new businesses it creates, will shape the sustained growth of Korean industry and the economy.
At the event, mid-sized companies YG-1 and TYM explained the digital transformation issues at their manufacturing sites and their future business direction, and expressed interest in partnering with digital technology startups that fit their needs.

IR Pitching
Eight digital innovation startups, including Daliworks, delivered IR pitches on their digital technologies and solutions.
Daliworks CEO Soonho Lee introduced Thingplus, the company’s in-house IoT platform, and outlined ways to collaborate with mid-sized companies. He highlighted how easy the platform is to customize and its many IoT service references across a wide range of fields. “What matters in pursuing DX,” Lee explained, “is to closely understand the requirements and business characteristics of enterprise users, then deliver tailored services that can be used effectively in real business processes.” He added, “Daliworks has extensive service delivery experience and a stable platform.”

Mini Booths & Networking
The lounge also offered a networking session where representatives of mid-sized companies, investment institutions, related organizations, and enterprises large and small discussed DX initiatives and ways to collaborate across the mid-sized company-startup-investor triangle.

Daliworks presented its ‘collaborative robot monitoring and remote control service’ and ‘AI motor diagnostics service,’ both newly launched in 2022, drawing strong interest and many inquiries from attendees. If you would like to learn more about the two services, check out the posts below!
