Daliworks at IFA 2022
IFA 2022 ran for five days, from September 2 to 6, at Messe Berlin in Germany. Alongside CES in Las Vegas and MWC in Barcelona, IFA is counted among the world’s three largest IT and consumer electronics exhibitions; after being canceled last year due to COVID-19, it returned as an in-person event for the first time in three years.
Around 1,900 companies took part across home appliances, home entertainment, audio, communications, and computing and gaming, with a record 160 or so Korean companies participating. Global leaders including Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics, along with Qualcomm, Panasonic, Nokia, and Philips, were joined by many Greater China players such as TCL and ASUS that are chasing Korea hard.

In the IFA NEXT hall, Daliworks joined KETI to exhibit its time-series data analytics platform and AI-based smart farm platform technology, centered on the results of their R&D projects. The motor diagnostics service and robot remote diagnostics service built on the time-series data analytics platform drew particularly strong interest from visitors.

At this year’s IFA, the halls themed around smart home and smart healthcare attracted a great deal of visitor attention. Smart home and smart medical device companies have recently been leading the market with differentiated services. A variety of smart farm devices are also arriving on the market, and a growing number of consumers are growing their own vegetables with simple plant cultivators that double as interior decor.

Seeing Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics stand as the two pillars of IFA stirred a sense of Korean pride, but beyond display technology, truly innovative products were hard to find. And while many Korean small businesses joined the exhibition with support from government agencies and local governments, few of their products captured visitors’ attention at IFA — which left something to be desired.
We hope next year’s IFA will be filled with more innovative products, and that Korean small businesses can draw more visitors’ attention through differentiation strategies such as theme-driven booth designs.
