The Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning held the 17th Software (SW) Industry Day ceremony at COEX in Gangnam, Seoul on the 28th, awarding the Gold Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit to KCC Information and Communication Chairman Jooyong Lee and the Iron Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit to Koscom CEO Yeondae Jung.

The Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning held the 17th Software (SW) Industry Day ceremony at COEX in Gangnam, Seoul on the 28th, awarding the Gold Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit to KCC Information and Communication Chairman Jooyong Lee and the Iron Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit to Koscom CEO Yeondae Jung.

Chairman Lee is credited with laying the foundations of Korea’s software industry by operating the FACOM 222, the first computer ever introduced to Korea. He was also recognized for carrying out the resident registration computerization project and for founding an information technology training center that nurtured software professionals.
CEO Jung built a platform that efficiently links data between financial investment firms and fintech companies.
In addition, 42 contributors to the software industry received awards, including Professor Jaeha Kim of the Seoul Institute of the Arts and Professor Sungjin Ahn of Sungkyunkwan University, who received the Order of Service Merit.
On the day, the Presidential Awards of the ‘Korea SW Grand Awards,’ given to the developers and companies behind the finest software, went to JenniferSoft and to Jongwook Kim. The Prime Minister’s Awards went to Minigate, Daliworks, Supulgeurim, and A Teukgongdae.
