That is why so many companies are adopting smart factories to achieve energy savings and cost innovation at the same time. In this post, we look at how the smart factory helps save energy, and at practical ways manufacturers can cut their energy use.<\/p>\n<h2>1. What Is a Smart Factory?<\/h2>\n<p>A smart factory is a system that uses technologies such as IoT (the Internet of Things), AI (artificial intelligence), big data, and FEMS (Factory Energy Management System) to maximize a factory&#8217;s productivity and manage energy efficiently. Practical Ways for Manufacturers to Save Energy<\/h2>\n<h3>3.1 Adopt Smart Lighting and Automated HVAC<\/h3>\n<p>Factory lighting and HVAC account for a large share of total energy consumption. A smart factory can maximize savings by introducing LED lighting and automated HVAC systems. One food manufacturer on Jeju Island cut its power consumption by 30% after adopting a smart air-handling system.<\/p>\n<h3>\u200b3.2 Improve Processes and Use Automated Equipment<\/h3>\n<p>By analyzing the energy wasted in existing processes and deploying automated equipment, manufacturers can build an energy-efficient production environment. In particular, a production management system linked with FEMS makes it possible to pinpoint energy use by process and optimize the inefficient ones.<\/p>\n<h3>\u200b3.3 Introduce High-Efficiency Equipment<\/h3>\n<p>Replacing aging equipment with high-efficiency, energy-saving models reduces power consumption. For motors, compressors, cooling systems, and similar equipment in particular, upgrading to models with the latest technology can deliver substantial energy savings. The Korean government&#8217;s Smart Eco-Factory program supports the transition to equipment with lower greenhouse gas emissions and higher energy efficiency.<\/p>\n<h2>4. Conclusion: Energy Savings and the Future of the Smart Factory<\/h2>\n<p>The smart factory is not simply a technology for automation; it is a core solution that delivers cost savings and sustainability for manufacturing at the same time.
