Energy savings in particular have moved beyond simple cost cutting to become a core element of ESG management. In this shift, the smart factory is fundamentally changing the paradigm of the production floor, and at its center are AI (artificial intelligence) and IoT (the Internet of Things).<\/p>\n<h2><b>Why Do Energy Savings Matter?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span>Energy costs account for a large share of manufacturing operating costs. In power-hungry industries in particular (casting, metalworking, heat treatment, and the like), energy efficiency is competitiveness itself. Add the carbon neutrality agenda, and the key question has shifted from &#8220;how cheaply can we make it&#8221; to &#8220;how little can we consume while making it.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Conventional energy management centered on statistics-based, after-the-fact analysis. Finding causes and responding only after problems occur has clear limits in a fast-changing market. It is an intelligent factory that collects and analyzes production floor data in real time, then judges and adjusts autonomously on that basis. From an energy perspective, a smart factory performs functions like these.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><b>&nbsp;\u2013 Real-time energy monitoring<\/b><\/span><span>: Collects usage of diverse energy sources such as electricity, compressed air, gas, and steam in real time<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><b><span>&nbsp;\u2013 <\/span>Equipment-level energy efficiency analysis<\/b><\/span><span>: Analyzes how much energy each piece of equipment consumes and how that ties to productivity<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><b><span>&nbsp;\u2013 <\/span>Energy anomaly detection and alerts<\/b><\/span><span>: Detects usage patterns that exceed thresholds, or potential failures, in advance<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><b><span>&nbsp;\u2013 <\/span>Automatic optimization control<\/b><\/span><span>: Real-time optimization of energy use through AI algorithms (for example, load shifting and peak shaving)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The technologies underpinning all of these functions are IoT and AI.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8384\" src=\"http:\/\/test.daliworks.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/FEMS-\ud750\ub984.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1030\" height=\"395\"><\/p>\n<p>FEMS flow<\/p>\n<h2><b>IoT Connects Everything on the Floor<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span>IoT is the eyes and ears of energy savings. Through sensors, it collects data in real time from equipment, instrumentation, production machinery, and environmental systems, then links it with FEMS or MES (Manufacturing Execution System) and transmits it in a form ready for analysis.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>For example,<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>&nbsp;\u2013 Power meters can be installed not only on the factory&#8217;s main power line but also on air handlers, compressors, and individual process lines, tracking usage by unit process.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span>&nbsp;\u2013 <\/span>Sensor-based real-time detection of leaks in compressed air systems can reduce energy losses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span>&nbsp;\u2013 <\/span>Linked with environmental sensors, the correlation between temperature\/humidity conditions and energy consumption can be analyzed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>IoT is the key to overcoming data blindness. They are not just technologies, but <\/span><span><b>the core tools that deliver energy savings as a result<\/b><\/span><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>For companies weighing smart factory adoption, the view must extend beyond automated equipment. <\/span><span><b>What is needed is an integrated strategy that pursues energy savings, ESG readiness, and productivity gains all at once<\/b><\/span><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>And at the center of that strategy are AI and IoT.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The future has already entered our factories.
